Math allows an on-screen calculator; practice setting up ratios and unit conversions, not arithmetic speed.
Reading gives about 73 seconds per item; learn to skim the questions before the passage.

Questions people ask about the TEAS 7
How many questions are on the TEAS 7?
The TEAS 7 has 170 items. Only 150 are scored; the remaining 20 are unscored pretest items and you are not told which ones they are. The sections are Reading with 45 items, Mathematics with 38, Science with 50 and English and Language Usage with 37.
How long is the TEAS 7?
Testing time is 209 minutes in total: 55 minutes for Reading, 57 for Mathematics, 60 for Science and 37 for English and Language Usage. Each section is timed on its own, so time left over in one section does not carry into the next.
What is on the TEAS 7 Science section?
Science is the largest section at 50 items and anatomy and physiology takes the biggest share of it. The rest covers biology, chemistry and scientific reasoning. Because it is both the largest section and the most content-heavy, it is where most candidates gain or lose the most.
What score do I need to pass the TEAS 7?
ATI does not set a pass or fail line. It reports a percentage Total Score and a proficiency level, and each nursing program decides what it will accept. Check the required score on your program's own admission page.
Is there a penalty for wrong answers on the TEAS?
No. Nothing is subtracted for a wrong answer, so you should mark an answer for every item even when you are guessing.
Can I use a calculator on the TEAS 7?
A basic four-function calculator is provided, on screen for the online version and as a handheld unit at some test sites. You may not bring your own calculator into the exam.
Are all TEAS 7 questions multiple choice?
Most items are four-option multiple choice, but TEAS 7 also uses multiple-select, supply answer, hot spot and ordered response items. Multiple-select items award no partial credit: you have to select every correct option.
How many times can I take the TEAS?
ATI applies a waiting period between attempts and your nursing program sets how many attempts it will accept in an admission cycle. The program rule is usually the binding one, so check it before booking a retake.
When do I get my TEAS results?
Computer-based administrations produce your score report as soon as you submit. Paper administrations have to be scored first and take longer.
Do I have to take all four TEAS sections?
Yes. All four sections must be completed for the attempt to produce a valid Total Score; you cannot retake a single weak section on its own.
